WeCarbon Founder Joins a Series of Climate and Sustainability Events

On 17 and 18 May, WeCarbon's Founder was invited to the Wuxi Lihu Eco-Design Festival Forum and the Ivy Peace and Alumni Forum in Shanghai.

Wuxi Lihu Eco-Design Festival Forum

On 17 May, the 2024 Wuxi Lihu Eco-Design Festival opened on Bogong Island at Lihu Lake, Wuxi. Named after its host city and centred on ecology and design, the international event aims to advance the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. WeCarbon's Founder was invited to attend and took part in a workshop and roundtable discussion at the forum.

Under the theme “The Future Is in Water” and with the “Wuxi Lihu Future City” plan as its blueprint, this year's festival consisted of a theme forum, theme exhibitions, public activities and industry cooperation. It brought together experts and scholars in ecology and sustainable development from around the world, as well as renowned international designers and artists, to discuss nature and ecology through the medium of water.

The session “Regeneration: International Cooperation in Industry, Technology and Eco-Design” focused on key areas including technology R&D and sustainable modern industry, energy, urban planning, architectural design and new energy, inviting international experts and industry leaders to discuss how industries can achieve a green transition and sustainable development. WeCarbon Founder Ms. Remoca Shi joined the roundtable “Tackling the Challenge of Balanced Regional Development: Mainstreaming Eco-Entrepreneurs” and spoke on “Digital-Green Synergy to Drive Corporate Green Transition Efficiently”.

Ivy Peace and Alumni Forum

On 18 May, WeCarbon Founder and Columbia University alumna Ms. Remoca Shi was invited to the Ivy Peace and Alumni Forum in Shanghai, where she shared her experience and perspectives on “Climate and Sustainable Development” in a fireside chat.

During the fireside chat, Ms. Shi spoke from both a social and a business perspective about WeCarbon's vision for climate and sustainable development and its experience in helping companies advance their ESG work. She also drew on her own experience as Secretary-General of the Shanghai Climate Week Youth Council and of the Sustainable Development Committee of the Asia-Pacific Entrepreneurs Association (APEA) to explain the role of young people in sustainable development, encouraging them to build sustainability careers of their own.

As one of the early planning organisations of Shanghai Climate Week, a signatory service provider to the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (UN PRI) and a partner of national ministries, WeCarbon has long followed global climate change closely and works in depth on ESG and sustainable development. It is committed to advancing low-carbon pathways with advanced technology, providing sustainability and ESG transition solutions focused on sustainable business value, and helping financial institutions, governments and companies respond to climate change together. Going forward, WeCarbon looks forward to working with talented people in every field to explore new possibilities for sustainable development through cooperation.
