On 4 June 2024, WeCarbon Founder Mr. Eric Ma was invited to give a lecture titled “Climate Tech and Youth Engagement” to faculty and students of the Department of Financial Technology at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE).
Under the heading “Technology for a Green, Low-Carbon Future”, Mr. Ma analysed in depth how environmental issues have evolved and how carbon neutrality technologies are developing, and may develop, against the backdrop of China's sustainability policy. He paid particular attention to “measure, manage, reduce” in tackling climate change, presenting frontier technologies and application cases in three areas: carbon monitoring, carbon management and emissions reduction in production. Under the heading “Climate and Youth”, he focused on how young people can take an active part in climate action, and shared why he started a business in ESG and what he has learned along the way. After the talk, Mr. Ma held in-depth discussions with the host and participants.
As an early mover in ESG and sustainability and a driving force behind the Shanghai Climate Week Youth Council, WeCarbon is committed to inspiring young people and bringing them into climate action, and to working with youth communities to use technological innovation to support companies across industries in their climate transition and sustainable development, so that China and the world hear the voices of young people and see what they can do.
