On 8 March 2023, Mia Zheng, Partner (China) & CEO of WeCarbon, was interviewed by UrbanLab. Together with 12 other women blazing a trail in science and technology innovation, she showcased the innovative strength of women and expressed her hopes and good wishes for more women to study and build careers in the field.
Asked whether "the science and technology innovation sector needs more female leadership", Ms. Zheng said: "The sector very much needs female leadership. Women have a better grasp of emotion and human nature than men. Tech innovation may sound logic-driven, but at its root it is dynamic collaboration between people, and it does not depend on technological advantage alone. 'Success depends on people' is an underlying logic that gets overlooked, and lasting success is always built on the art of 'balancing' talented people of every kind."

Ms. Zheng is an expert in sustainability, ESG and impact investing with more than ten years of cross-industry experience. She holds an MPA from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs and a finance MBA from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business. She is a member of the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) expert group and a specially appointed ESG expert for a vice-ministerial-level NGO and several private equity funds, and has supported several government standard-setting projects. She developed an impact investment assessment system and a five-year climate change strategic investment plan for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and contributed to the sustainability strategies of New York City and several multinational groups.
