On 14 April 2023, at the invitation of Mr. Chen Lihui, Director of the Fifth Electronics Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), WeCarbon's founding team visited the Institute (China CEPREI Laboratory). Mr. Li Yao, Deputy General Manager of the CEPREI Certification Body, and the team of its Green and Low-Carbon Business Division attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Ms. Chen Chunyan of the CEPREI Certification Body's Green and Low-Carbon Business Division introduced the Institute's strengths in credibility, certification capability, enterprise services and industry support as the final certification and verification body for hundreds of key qualifications in China, covering carbon neutrality, carbon assets, carbon footprints, IT system reliability and more. She highlighted in particular the valuable experience the Institute has built up over many years in green and low-carbon certification and verification.

Ms. Remoca Shi briefed the Institute's leadership on the strengths of WeCarbon's enterprise services and technology teams in green and low-carbon development and ESG. On the technology side, she presented what the WeCarbon Cloud carbon neutrality management platform has achieved in combining sustainability with digitalisation, focusing on how the platform can help certification and verification bodies such as the Institute connect data, improve data credibility and speed up certification services, serving as an important bridge between companies and official bodies. On enterprise services, as a signatory service provider to the UN-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (UN PRI), WeCarbon provides governments and companies with ESG financing, investment and transition strategy services. There is broad scope for cooperation with the Institute, especially in helping companies qualify for green loans, obtain certification for digital low-carbon parks and verify carbon assets.

The two sides discussed a range of cooperation directions in depth and reached consensus in several areas where technology can accelerate progress on sustainability. Going forward, they will make full use of their respective strengths to explore and advance cooperation in joint research, information system development, professional standards and the implementation of green certification projects. With green, sustainable and high-quality development as their goal, they will work together to help more companies achieve low-carbon transformation and value creation, building a green future together.
About the Fifth Electronics Research Institute of MIIT
The Fifth Electronics Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (China CEPREI Laboratory), also known as the China Electronic Product Reliability and Environmental Testing Research Institute, was founded in 1955 and is China's earliest institution dedicated to reliability research. After years of sustained effort, the CEPREI Certification Body has grown into a third-party certification body with a comprehensive range of services and strong overall capability. In the green and low-carbon field, the Institute certifies and verifies a wide range of important green qualifications, including carbon neutrality for organisations, products, activities and conferences, product carbon footprints, carbon labels, energy-saving products, green products, greenhouse gas inventories (ISO 14064) and energy-saving audits. It is also a verification body for a variety of tradable carbon assets, including those under the UN Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and China Certified Emission Reductions (CCER).
