On 25 March, WeCarbon Founder Ms. Remoca Shi attended, at the invitation of the World Economic Forum (WEF), the World Economic Forum's One Earth Summit in Hong Kong (the “Summit”).

The Summit set out to draw on Hong Kong's position as a financial and innovation hub to foster an ecosystem of Public-Private-Philanthropic Partnerships committed to advancing sustainable development. It also opened Hong Kong's Financial Mega Event Week.

Under the theme “Investing in Innovation for a Sustainable Future”, the Summit was organised around five themes: water and nature-based solutions, food and agriculture, infrastructure and urban development, materials and industrial decarbonisation, and the energy transition. It brought together 500 leaders and changemakers from the public, private and philanthropic sectors to discuss sustainability and advance the well-being of people, organisations and the planet.

In his address, John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR, said: “Hong Kong has long been a leading global financial centre. In recent years, we have also placed great importance on tackling climate change, promoting sustainable development, supporting the green economy and building global cooperation in these key areas.”

Ms. Poman Lo, Founder of the Institute of Sustainability and Technology, said the Summit aims to set science-based targets and mobilise all the capital needed to scale up innovative solutions.

As a signatory service provider to the UN-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) and a company on a national ministry's carbon neutrality services whitelist, WeCarbon follows closely the exchange of views and cooperation trends in sustainable development across regions and sectors worldwide. As a company committed to sustainability, it will continue to take part in more high-level events, sharing its voice on sustainable development and supporting sustainability efforts in every region.

As an international financial centre, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China has long been an important bridge between East and West. Its geographical advantages allow it to foster international cooperation and lead sustainable development in the region. With strong support from public, private and philanthropic leaders in the World Economic Forum community, the One Earth Summit aims to become a cornerstone for future creativity and innovation.
