WeCarbon Founder Ms. Remoca Shi was recently invited to the 2024 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum Global Shapers Shanghai Hub. Other attendees included Johnson Yeh, former CEO of Riot Games Asia and founder of the LPL; Liu Guangyao, founder of Bosie; Huang Tao, founder of the listed company Lily & Beauty, and its CEO Kimmey; and more than 20 young entrepreneurs, influencers and friends from the entertainment industry.
The Global Shapers Community is a global youth community of the World Economic Forum (WEF). It brings together the strengths of individuals, communities and the wider world to give young people a global platform for shaping the future. The Shanghai Hub was among the initial hubs the World Economic Forum set up in China. Its members are young people from all walks of life who are committed to building a peaceful, prosperous and more inclusive world, and to acting as a “positive force for change” that contributes to society.
The annual meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration among members, showcase projects with the power to drive social change, and support the Hub's development. The agenda included an overview of community projects, talks by special guests, presentations of Hub Projects, and a debrief on the 2024 Summer Davos.
In the sharing session, Ms. Shi, speaking as Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Climate Week Executive Committee Secretariat and Secretary-General of the Youth Council, introduced the mission of Shanghai Climate Week: encouraging young people to take an active part in tackling climate change and to build a green, low-carbon future together. She summarised Shanghai Climate Week's work to deepen international exchange and raise sustainability awareness among young people worldwide, including its global forums and the Climate & Sustainability Photography Awards. She also explained the role Shanghai Climate Week plays in fulfilling the Hub's mission and supporting its development, and shared her hopes for mutually beneficial cooperation with the Global Shapers Community.
Going forward, as a supporter of Shanghai Climate Week, WeCarbon will continue to deepen its cooperation with Shanghai Climate Week while working with the Global Shapers Community's international platform and resources to bring young people together and drive sustainable development for the planet.
