On 2 June 2026, the forum "Computing–Power Coordination: Challenges, Opportunities and Trends", hosted by New Energy Nexus (NEX) China and Shanghai Metals Market (SMM), co-organised by CIW and with Sungrow Renewables as gold sponsor, was held in Hongqiao, Shanghai. WeCarbon Founder Ms. Remoca Shi and Founder Mr. Eric Ma were invited to attend.

Held alongside the 2026 SNEC PV Power Expo and the CIW platform, the forum focused on the green development of computing power amid the rapid rise of generative AI. It covered the policy planning, technical challenges, industrial innovation and investment environment for coordinating computing and electricity, bringing together institutions, think tanks and companies from the computing, telecommunications, technology and energy sectors in China and worldwide to discuss practical pathways for the joint development of computing power and green electricity and to support the green transition of computing worldwide.

The forum comprised welcome remarks, keynote speeches, a panel discussion and market analysis. In the keynote session, Sun Wenxuan, Director of China Business & Programs at NEX, spoke on "Green Computing for a Green Future: Computing and Power Working Together", outlining how the green computing industry can develop in a coordinated way; Liu Zhi, Deputy Director of the Energy Internet Research Institute, Tsinghua University, spoke on "Computing Follows Green Power: How Computing–Power Coordination Reshapes the Digital Energy Ecosystem", setting out pathways for building that ecosystem; Yue Hao, Senior Expert at the State Grid Jibei Electric Power Economic Research Institute, presented "Two-way Empowerment through Computing–Power Coordination: Solving the Impossible Trinity", on how coordination can resolve the energy trilemma; and Hu Jin, NEX invited expert and Director of the Power & Utilities Industry at Amazon Web Services (AWS), shared perspectives on "AIDC + AI: A New Flywheel for Global Energy Development". In the panel discussion, moderated by Liao Yu, General Manager of the Power Operation Center at LONGi Green Energy, experts from six institutions, Peking University, Tsinghua University, State Grid Jibei Electric Power, Alibaba Cloud, Sungrow Renewables and SMM, discussed current technical bottlenecks, policy and regulatory challenges, innovation highlights and industry trends in green computing in China and abroad, followed by questions from the audience. In the market analysis session, David Fishman, lead researcher at The Lantau Group, spoke from a policy planning perspective on "Can the AI Revolution Really Be Green? The Future of Low-carbon Computing Worldwide"; Sun Peng, General Manager of Innovation Project Development at Sungrow Renewables, took an investment view in "Investing in and Developing Computing–Power Coordination Projects: Opportunities and Challenges"; and Liu Zhiqing, Senior Consultant at SMM, focused on computing infrastructure in "A New Engine for Computing Infrastructure: Rethinking the Role of Energy Storage in AIDC and Evolving Solutions".
