On 12 June 2026, the Abu Dhabi × Shanghai Strategic Roundtable was held at The Peninsula Shanghai during the Abu Dhabi Investment Forum (ADIF). Co-hosted by the Sino-International Entrepreneurs Federation (SIEF), the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) and the Abu Dhabi Young Business Council (ADYBC), under the theme "Exploring New Opportunities in China–Arab Markets, Building a New Future of Strategic Cooperation", the roundtable held in-depth discussions on scaling innovative technologies, expanding access to the UAE market and building sustainable strategic partnerships. It aimed to turn high-quality dialogue into concrete business cooperation, strengthen cross-border synergies and explore practical pathways for cooperation and exchange between Chinese and Arab companies. The roundtable focused on three core dimensions: cross-border collaboration, technology and innovation, and youth entrepreneurship. Drawing on their industry experience, participants held practical dialogues from different professional perspectives, building consensus and practical direction for market coordination, technology deployment and entrepreneurial ecosystems between China and the Arab world. During the roundtable, Ms. Shi took an active part in the core discussions and shared insights from her experience in sustainable development and cross-border industrial collaboration. She suggested that China's strengths in manufacturing and clean technology complement the UAE's position as a global hub for trade, capital and regulation, offering ideas for China–Arab cross-border green cooperation and innovation.

On cross-border collaboration: Abu Dhabi and Shanghai are both undergoing rapid technology-driven economic transformation, and each has distinct strengths in hard tech, green energy, advanced agriculture and capital allocation. The roundtable discussed their economic complementarity, identified immediate synergies yet to be unlocked between Chinese and Arab markets, explored feasible routes for market access, and set out a practical direction for industrial coordination between the two.
On technology and innovation: as digital transformation accelerates, the combined application of artificial intelligence, humanoid robots and software solutions has become central to industrial upgrading. The roundtable focused on the energy transition, discussing the core technical and operational bottlenecks in clean energy, mobility and carbon data, and explored how China–Arab cooperation could address these industry challenges.
On entrepreneurship and talent: nurturing young entrepreneurial leaders is a shared priority for both sides. The roundtable discussed differences in how young Emirati and Chinese entrepreneurs view risk appetite, innovation and the definition of business success, offering a range of perspectives on how the two entrepreneurial ecosystems are evolving across generations.
