On 20 August, WeCarbon's China Partner Ms. Mia Zheng was invited to lecture as an expert at the BOC Shanghai Advanced Training Institute's "Training Programme on Sharing Good Practice in Yangtze River Delta Corporate Finance: Cross-Regional Group Clients, Finance Linkage for Domestic and Cross-Border Industrial Relocation, and Cross-Regional Project Development", giving a sustainable finance training session to corporate finance leaders and key staff of Bank of China's Yangtze River Delta branches.
Ms. Zheng is Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of the Green and Low-Carbon Technology Research Center at the SJTU-UNIDO Joint Institute of Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development, a member of the expert group of the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN), an expert of the Sci-Tech Enterprise IPO Incubation Pool, and an ESG expert to a vice-ministerial-level NGO and several private equity funds, with more than ten years of CSR/ESG experience.
In the session, Ms. Zheng taught on the theme of "Global Green Development, China's Sustainability Policy and Green Finance". Across four parts (an overview of green development, China's Sustainability policy, new finance in the light of sustainable development, and case studies of ESG practice at financial institutions), she explained how sustainable finance has developed and where the market is heading, and how financial institutions, guided by China's Sustainability policy, can use this key window to set ESG investment strategies that suit them, seize market opportunities and open up new business areas.
