WeCarbon Takes Part in Depth in the Green Carbon Asia Forum Series of Events

On 22 April 2025, the Green Carbon Asia Forum was held in the Shanghai Hall of the China Financial Information Center, with WeCarbon taking part in depth as a guest in several sessions of the event. Zou Rong, Co-Chair of the Shanghai Climate Week Executive Committee, Vice President of the Shanghai Services Federation and Director of its Low Carbon Economy Committee, and Co-Convener of the China–France Carbon Neutrality Forum; Jian Danian, Vice President of the Shanghai Services Federation; Zhang Fengming, President of the China Financial Information Center; and P C Chan, Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA), attended the forum and delivered remarks.

Remarks by P C Chan, Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency

In the roundtable dialogues across the sessions, leaders from various industries shared their experience and insights on core topics such as deep emission reductions driven by sustainable fuels, green industrial transformation and green supply chain innovation, offering rich ideas and practical directions for green development in Asia and around the world. The gathering of many industry experts gave a strong boost to exchange and cooperation in the field of green development.

Among them, Dr. Mohamed Bashir Kharrubi, Board Member of Abu Dhabi Investment Group, focused in depth on climate technology. "Climate change has become an existential challenge for humanity and urgently requires a coordinated global response." Dr. Kharrubi stressed: "We advocate a paradigm that integrates traditional ecological wisdom with modern innovative technology. Grounded in the core values of respecting natural balance and revering ecology, we should focus on five areas of climate technology application: renewable energy systems, green infrastructure networks, smart agricultural ecosystems, precise meteorological early-warning systems and electric mobility solutions, so as to systematically address today's pressing sustainability crisis."

Chinese Edition of the "ClimateTech In Focus: Innovations for a Greener Supply Chain" Report Released

At the Green Carbon Asia Forum, the insights on climate technology shared by Dr. Kharrubi pointed the way for green development. Immediately afterwards, another important output at the frontier of climate technology, the Chinese edition of the report "ClimateTech In Focus: Innovations for a Greener Supply Chain", was launched at the forum. Mr. William Wang, Chief Representative for Asia Pacific of Shanghai Climate Week and Director-General of its Youth Council, presented the Chinese edition of the report prepared with WeCarbon as Knowledge Partner, "ClimateTech In Focus: Innovations for a Greener Supply Chain" (click the image for the full version). He was then joined, in a panel discussion on the report moderated by Ms. Remoca Shi, Founder and Executive President of WeCarbon, Deputy Secretary-General of the Secretariat of the Shanghai Climate Week Executive Committee and Secretary-General of its Youth Council, by high-profile guests and report contributors from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, SenseAuto, the UAE Presidential Court, Jinqiao Group and the Global Alliance of Universities on Climate.

The "ClimateTech In Focus: Innovations for a Greener Supply Chain" report

"ClimateTech In Focus: Innovations for a Greener Supply Chain" is a climate technology report with WeCarbon as Knowledge Partner, WeCarbon's founder as a lead author and WeCarbon's consulting team deeply involved in its preparation. Focusing on climate technology, the report examines the origins of green supply chains in depth, presents a panorama of the climate tech market and reveals its significant impact in key fields.

Analysing the climate crisis from a global perspective, the report identifies environmental awareness, national policy targets and economic incentives as the core drivers of climate action. Although climate action has made progress, achieving global net-zero emissions still requires acceleration. In policymaking, legislative frameworks, strict enforcement and public legal education are key to sustainable development, and developing countries must balance climate and economic goals. The green transformation of supply chains should focus on traceability, breaking through emission-reduction bottlenecks and driving corporate excellence, with companies upgrading under a range of internal drivers. The report uses a "technology readiness vs. market fit" framework to map climate technologies and identify several key areas for breakthroughs, noting that new financing models are helping climate tech startups grow. A sustainable future requires coordinated support from policy, finance and education. Coordinated global action will drive a green economic cycle and deliver a bright future in which development and sustainability are integrated.

The report also highlights the important role of finance, education and infrastructure in advancing climate technology. In finance, the development of green finance provides funding for relevant projects; education cultivates professional talent and raises public environmental awareness; and sound infrastructure underpins the deployment of technology.

Mr. William Wang, Chief Representative for Asia Pacific of Shanghai Climate Week and Director-General of its Youth Council, presenting the report

The release of "ClimateTech In Focus: Innovations for a Greener Supply Chain" is highly significant. It offers governments, businesses, financial institutions and other stakeholders comprehensive and forward-looking ideas for responding to climate change and advancing the green transformation of supply chains. It will help policymakers refine green development policies, help businesses identify the direction of their green transition and help financial institutions allocate resources effectively, accelerating the journey of climate technology from the lab to the market and advancing the achievement of global sustainable development goals.

Roundtable: "ClimateTech In Focus: Innovations for a Greener Supply Chain"

In the roundtable, Ms. Remoca Shi, Founder and Executive President of WeCarbon, held in-depth exchanges with report contributors including Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Vice President Ajay Bhushan Pandey, SenseAuto Chief Financial Officer Zhang Junyi, UAE Presidential Court Climate Change Adviser Mohammed Abdul Mujeeb Khan, Shanghai Jinqiao Group Deputy General Manager Zhu Lili, and Global Alliance of Universities on Climate Chief Youth Officer and Director-General of the Shanghai Climate Week Youth Council Alice Ho. Together they explored how climate technology can drive innovation in green supply chains from three perspectives: industry and infrastructure, policy and investment, and education. Mr. Pandey explained the important financing role that multilateral development banks play in the climate transition and their ability to attract private capital and government policy support, adding that multilateral development banks are also looking for deployable advanced technologies and calling for supportive government policies. Mr. Zhang explained the driving role of "new energy" and "intelligence" in the automotive supply chain, the importance of resource allocation in deploying technology, and the important guiding role of policy in private capital investment.

Mr. Mujeeb Khan stressed the importance of the leadership role of women in climate-related action and the importance of multilateral collaboration. Mr. Zhu explained that Jinqiao has always integrated green and low-carbon principles into the design of its parks, emphasising cultural communication and organic integration with communities, combining new advanced technologies and keeping pace with forward-looking ESG policies and companies' internal needs to keep innovating. Ms. Ho said universities should integrate knowledge of climate technology into many disciplines, including economics, law, design, artificial intelligence, the arts, science and engineering, so that young people can apply their expertise to address climate change, while international organisations should take on an important responsibility in building dialogue platforms for young people around the world.
